The Valais AOC appellation, located in the south of Switzerland, is the largest and one of the most prestigious wine regions in the country. Nestled in the heart of the Alpine mountains, it benefits from an exceptionally sunny climate, with over 2,000 hours of sunshine per year, combined with a diversity of soils ranging from gravel to slate and limestone. This unique setup enables the production of wines with great richness and complexity, both red and white.
Among the traditional grape varieties grown are Petite Arvine, Fendant (Chasselas), and Humagne for whites, as well as Cornalin, Humagne Rouge, and Syrah for reds. These varieties offer wines characterised by a beautiful freshness, marked minerality, and an aromatic range extending from floral and fruity notes for whites to black fruit and spice aromas for reds.
Valais is renowned for its innovation and respect for tradition, ensuring high-quality wines that captivate both enthusiasts and connoisseurs. An essential discovery for any wine lover, whether novice or seasoned, wishing to enrich their cellar with Switzerland's unique and authentic expressions.
