Overall, there is remarkable finesse, but the palate, whilst balanced with tannins still present, lacks depth and richness, and the flavours are somewhat muted. The finish, somewhat abrupt, is also a touch disappointing. RP and JR, who gave it maturity until 2015/2020, might have been right? The nose remains absolutely stunning, centred around tobacco, leather, blackcurrant, plum and chocolate.
