Domaine Tariquet’s Cuvée Classic 2024 is a dry white wine from the Côtes de Gascogne IGP in south-western France. This cuvée is typically a blend of local white varieties such as Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Sauvignon Blanc and Gros Manseng, all of which contribute to the wine’s renowned freshness, lively aromatics and vibrant acidity. The 2024 vintage is emblematic of the house style: pure, zesty and youthful. Crafted with early morning harvesting to preserve the delicate primary aromas, fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, maintaining brightness and a clean, crisp profile.
The Gascogne region lies between the Atlantic coast and the foothills of the Pyrenees, with a temperate maritime climate influenced by both oceanic breezes and the proximity of the mountains. The soils are typically a mix of sand, clay and limestone, which provide excellent drainage and lend a subtle minerality to the wines. Once famed for its Armagnac brandy, the region embraced modern white winemaking in the late 20th century, quickly gaining a reputation for fresh, aromatic whites that offer superb value and approachability. The long, sunny growing season and cool nights are ideal for retaining natural acidity and expressive, juicy fruit notes.
This crisp, aromatic white partners beautifully with local fare such as salade landaise (smoked duck salad), or a platter of fresh seafood — oysters, clams or grilled prawns will showcase its citrusy, slightly saline edge. For a vegetarian pairing, try a goat’s cheese tart or a chilled asparagus salad where the wine’s zest will lift and complement the fresh flavours. Its lively character also makes it a refreshing aperitif on a warm day.
To fully appreciate the aromatic vibrancy and refreshing palate, serve this Cuvée Classic well-chilled at around 8-10°C. Enjoy while young to capture all the exuberant fruit and crispness that define this Gascogne white.
