Wines Châteauneuf-du-Pape Xavier Vignon - Cuvée Anonyme - 2017

I find Robert Parker a tad too effusive… there are pleasant aromas on the nose of blackberry, blackcurrant, rose, leather and oak, but they don’t quite come through fully on the palate. A bit of a let-down then, even though it remains a good wine, round and smooth in the mouth, concealing its 15% alcohol very well. Perhaps decanting it for a long time (6 hours?) before tasting, or even ageing it for a few more years, would allow it to better reveal a potential that feels very much present? In fact, it was much better (even better?) the next day.
