Foradori’s Granato 2022 is a remarkable red wine from the Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT, in the heart of Trentino, northern Italy. Crafted predominantly from the indigenous Teroldego grape, this cuvée exemplifies the estate’s commitment to expressing purity and place through rigorous biodynamic methods. 2022 was characterised by balance and energy in the region, resulting in grapes of beautiful ripeness and finesse. Granato undergoes spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts, followed by ageing in large oak barrels, allowing the wine’s vibrant fruit and delicate texture to shine unmasked by heavy oak influence. The result is an expressive, deep-coloured red with aromas of black cherry, wild berries, violets and subtle earthy undertones, supported by fine-grained tannins and a lively, mineral-driven finish.
The Vigneti delle Dolomiti region benefits from the unique terroir of the foothills of the Dolomites. The vineyards are planted on alluvial soils rich in stones and gravels, offering excellent drainage and imparting pronounced minerality to the wines. The Trentino area is shaped by its alpine climate, with significant diurnal variation—warm days ensuring full ripeness, cool nights preserving aromatic freshness and structure. Winemaking has a long tradition here, elevated by artisanal producers like Foradori who champion native varieties and sustainable methods, contributing to the renewed prestige of Italian mountain wines.
This elegant and intense Granato pairs beautifully with hearty dishes that can stand up to its bold yet refined character. Traditional regional pairings include spezzatino di cervo (venison stew), polenta with wild mushroom ragù, or aged Trentingrana cheese. Its freshness also complements roast lamb, braised beef, or rich vegetarian dishes featuring root vegetables or lentils.
For the best tasting experience, decant the wine for one hour before serving to fully reveal its aromatic complexity. Serve slightly cool, ideally at 16-18°C, to highlight its freshness, intense fruit, and refined tannic structure. Enjoy now for its vibrant youthful character or cellar for several years to appreciate its further evolution.
