Agrapart & Fils’ Cuvée 7 Crus Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs from the remarkable 2024 vintage is an exceptional expression of Champagne’s finesse and craftsmanship. Crafted solely from Chardonnay grapes, this Extra-Brut cuvée celebrates the purity and elegance of the grape, while the blend—named “7 Crus”—hails from seven prime villages, primarily Avize, Oger, Cramant, Oiry, Avenay-Val-d’Or, Bergeres-les-Vertus and Mardeuil. The 2024 vintage, marked by a cool spring and a warm, balanced summer, has imparted great freshness, precision and notable aromatic complexity to the wine. The vinification at Agrapart privileges indigenous yeasts and minimal intervention, often with partial élevage in oak to add layered depth and texture, culminating in a dosage of less than 6 g/L, which perfectly preserves the wine’s crisp mineral backbone.
The Champagne region is unique—a patchwork of chalky soils, predominantly in the Côte des Blancs where many of the seven crus are located. The unique subsoil composed of pure chalk lends the wines great tension, pronounced minerality and longevity. The temperate climate, with its cool northern latitude, allows for slow, steady ripening, preserving acidity and delicate aromas. Champagne as a region is steeped in history, with centuries-old traditions of sparkling winemaking, and Agrapart & Fils is one of the leading grower-producers dedicated to expressing terroir authenticity rather than blending broadly across the region.
With its crisp acidity, refined bubbles and marked minerality, this Champagne pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes. The bracing freshness makes it a particularly fine accompaniment to delicate seafoods—think oysters, langoustines or a classic French seafood platter. The subtle toasty notes and saline finish also complement sushi or sashimi. Regional specialities such as gougères, Comté cheese or even a tartare de Saint-Jacques would be excellent choices.
For optimal enjoyment, serve well chilled but not ice-cold, at around 8-10°C. Use a tulip or white wine glass rather than a flute to fully appreciate the expressive aromas and complexity. Allow the wine a moment to open in the glass and savour its pure, chalky elegance.
