Pierre Baltier Ventoux Rosé 2024 is a dry rosé crafted in the southern reaches of the Rhône Valley, specifically within the Ventoux AOC. This youthful wine typically draws from classic southern Rhône varietals such as Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault, renowned for yielding vibrant, fruit-forward rosés. The 2024 vintage, with its pale pink hue, promises lively freshness and a bouquet evocative of ripe strawberries, watermelon, and delicate spring flowers, underpinned by a crisp citrus lift. Vinification techniques favour gentle pressing and cool-temperature fermentation in stainless steel vats, ensuring a clean, aromatic profile and a mouthwatering finish.
The Ventoux region itself nestles at the base of the imposing Mont Ventoux, benefitting from a distinctive microclimate. Warm Mediterranean days are offset by cool nights and the persistent mistral wind, which helps preserve acidity in the grapes and slows ripening, yielding wines of brightness and poise. The soils are a mosaic of clay, limestone, and stony scree, imbuing the wines with tension and subtle mineral notes. While perhaps less famed than neighbouring Châteauneuf-du-Pape or Gigondas, Ventoux boasts a proud viticultural tradition with increasingly refined expressions, particularly in fresh, accessible rosés like this one.
Owing to its vivid fruit and lively acidity, Pierre Baltier Ventoux Rosé 2024 shines as an aperitif but also pairs superbly with Provençal cuisine. Enjoy it alongside salade niçoise, grilled Mediterranean vegetables, or a classic tapenade spread across rustic bread. The wine’s refreshing quality makes it a wonderful match for seafood, especially grilled prawns or sea bass, as well as lighter poultry or chèvre-based dishes from the region.
For the fullest expression of its aromatics and brisk palate, serve this rosé well-chilled, ideally between 8-10°C. Young and brimming with charm, it is best enjoyed within its first year or two, when its fruit and vibrancy are at their peak.
