Silver Oak’s 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Alexander Valley AVA is a standout expression of Californian winemaking. Crafted predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon, this red wine typically incorporates smaller proportions of other Bordeaux varietals to add complexity and finesse. The grapes enjoy the warmth and long growing season of the Alexander Valley, which is known for producing fruit with rich concentration and elegant structure. Consider serving it alongside a classic grilled ribeye steak or braised short ribs, where the wine’s tannins complement the richness and savoury umami of the meat. For a regional twist, California-inspired cuisine, such as slow-roasted lamb with rosemary and garlic, would be excellent. The wine’s acidity will also cut nicely through rich mushroom risotto or a selection of aged hard cheeses.
