The Andrea Oberto Barolo DOC Comune di La Morra 2020 is a striking ambassador of the Nebbiolo grape, hailing from one of the most esteemed villages in the Barolo DOCG area. Crafted exclusively from Nebbiolo, this wine showcases the hallmark characteristics of La Morra: elegance, expressive aromatics, and approachable tannins, especially in a fresh and balanced vintage like 2020. The vinification typically involves a long maceration to extract delicate aromas and structure, followed by maturation in large oak barrels, which allows the wine to harmoniously develop without overshadowing the pure fruit expression.

Barolo originates from the Piemonte region in north-western Italy, a land characterised by rolling hills, ancient calcareous marl soils, and a continental climate marked by cold winters and hot, misty summers. La Morra, one of Barolo’s most distinctive communes, is renowned for producing wines with finesse and supple texture, owing to its lighter soils rich in limestone and blue marl. With centuries of vine-growing tradition, Barolo has earned its title as the “King of Wines,” emblematic of both Piemonte’s cultural heritage and its dedication to quality.

With its refined tannins and enchanting floral and red fruit notes, this Barolo pairs beautifully with richly flavoured dishes. Classic pairings from the region include tajarin pasta with porcini mushrooms, or slow-cooked brasato al Barolo (beef braised in Barolo wine). The wine’s deep structure also stands up well to game birds, roast lamb, or mature cheeses like Castelmagno or Parmigiano Reggiano, allowing its complexity to shine.

For ideal enjoyment, decant the wine at least one hour before serving to allow the aromas to fully open up.
