Wines Mâcon and Mâcon-Villages Clos des Vignes du Maynes - 910 - 2022

Visually: light garnet hue, medium opacity with ruby highlights; light clay-coloured rim; fine legs, fairly spaced and quite long. First nose: vegetal notes, light stewed prunes, slightly peppery, a hint of vanilla, perhaps a touch of green apple, a lot of freshness. Second nose: more pronounced vegetal note, faint white blossom, damp humus, a subtle, textural note that's hard to define. On the palate: silky texture, elegant, well-integrated tannins, tip of the tongue tingled by a hint of spice, stewed prune note pleasantly hovering over the whole, warm but not too much, pleasantly expansive, lovely freshness that brings balance, beautiful length with vanilla-tinged stewed prune lingering on. A very fine wine with excellent ageing potential. Paired perfectly with richly smoked, almost cured dried beef and a Normandy-style chicken.
