White Grapes

Smederevka is a traditional white grape variety predominantly grown in Serbia, North Macedonia, and some regions of Bulgaria. Known for its high yields and adaptability, Smederevka produces wines that are light to medium-bodied with a fresh, approachable profile. The aromatic expression typically features subtle citrus notes such as lemon and lime, complemented by green apple and floral nuances, sometimes underpinned by a gentle minerality.

On the palate, Smederevka tends to be crisp and lively, marked by refreshing acidity and a clean finish. The wines are most often vinified as dry still wines, although there are semi-dry and sparkling expressions. Young Smederevka wines are best enjoyed within one to two years of the vintage to take advantage of their youthful vibrancy and delicate fruit character.

These wines pair exceptionally well with light starters, simple fish dishes, poultry, and soft cheeses. Smederevka also complements Mediterranean salads and can provide a pleasant contrast to mildly spicy cuisine. Its straightforward structure and refreshing acidity make it especially suitable as an apéritif or for al fresco occasions.
