The grape variety Rara Neagra

Rara Neagră is a distinguished and ancient red grape variety indigenous to Moldova and Romania, celebrated for its unique character and viticultural heritage. In the glass, Rara Neagră reveals a vibrant medium ruby hue and an enticing aromatic profile. Typical aromas include ripe red berries such as cherry and raspberry, accompanied by hints of wildflowers, subtle smoky notes, and a delicate spiciness reminiscent of white pepper and herbs. On the palate, Rara Neagră offers a medium body with fresh, lively acidity and supple tannins, resulting in wines that are exceptionally approachable yet capable of developing further complexity with age.

This grape is predominantly cultivated in Moldova, where it thrives in the rolling hills of the Codru and Valul lui Traian regions, as well as in Romania’s historic viticultural areas.
