White Grapes

Amigne de Vétroz is a distinctive white grape variety indigenous to the Valais region of Switzerland, with its most celebrated expression coming from the village of Vétroz. On the nose, Amigne offers an intriguing aromatic profile, displaying notes of orange blossom, honey, citrus, and subtle stone fruits, often underpinned by a delicate floral character and a hint of beeswax. Palate impressions range from crisp and dry to opulently sweet, with marked acidity lending freshness and balance to wines of all styles. Typical wines exhibit flavours of ripe pear, grapefruit, honeycomb, and sometimes a faint nuttiness, complemented by a unique, slightly bitter finish reminiscent of orange peel.

The grape is cultivated almost exclusively in Valais, particularly on the sun-drenched, terraced vineyards of Vétroz, where its nuanced character is best expressed. Winemakers craft Amigne in a range of styles, from vibrant, dry versions to richly textured late-harvest and noble rot sweet wines.

Amigne pairs exceptionally well with sophisticated cuisine. Dry styles complement freshwater fish, goat’s cheese, asparagus, and poultry in creamy sauces, while sweeter styles make an elegant match for blue cheese, foie gras, or fruit-based desserts. Its distinctive character ensures memorable food and wine pairings.
