White Grapes

Aranel is a relatively recent French grape variety, resulting from the cross between Grenache Blanc and Saint-Pierre Doré. It is known for its delicate pale straw colour and refined aromatic profile. On the nose, Aranel displays subtle floral notes, such as acacia blossom and honeysuckle, complemented by white peach, crisp pear, and hints of citrus zest. The palate is lively yet balanced, offering fresh acidity, a light to medium body, and an elegant minerality which enhances its clean, refreshing finish.

Aranel is predominantly cultivated in the southern regions of France, particularly in Languedoc and the Rhône Valley, where the Mediterranean climate allows the grape to reach optimum ripeness while retaining acidity. Wines produced from Aranel are typically vinified as dry whites, sometimes blended to add aromatic lift and finesse, though varietal expressions are increasingly appreciated.

Pairing Aranel wines with food highlights their finesse and vibrancy. They are excellent companions to seafood, shellfish, and lightly grilled fish. Soft cheeses such as goat’s cheese or mild, creamy brie also accentuate the grape’s floral and stone fruit notes. Additionally, Aranel pairs beautifully with vegetable-based dishes, including spring salads, asparagus, and Mediterranean cuisine.
