White Grapes

New York Muscat is a distinctive grape variety renowned for its highly expressive aromatic profile. The grape reveals an intense bouquet of perfumed rose petals, grapey notes, orange blossom and hints of exotic spices, underscored by a touch of honeyed sweetness. On the palate, New York Muscat offers a vibrant and juicy character with flavours of ripe table grapes, lychee, candied citrus peel and a delicately floral undertone, balanced by refreshing acidity.

Originating from the United States, New York Muscat thrives in cooler viticultural regions, particularly in the Finger Lakes and Long Island of New York State, as well as parts of the Pacific Northwest. It is also cultivated, to a lesser extent, in Canada, Australia, and some cooler European sites.

The grape is most frequently vinified into aromatic varietal whites, spanning from dry to off-dry and semi-sweet styles, often with a crisp, lively finish. It is also occasionally used in blends, lending floral lift and a muscat character.

Ideal food pairings include lightly spiced Asian dishes, fresh goat’s cheese, fruit salads, and desserts featuring citrus or stone fruit. New York Muscat can also complement shellfish and serves as a delightful aperitif.
