White Grapes

Pošip is a highly regarded white grape variety indigenous to Croatia, particularly thriving on the island of Korčula in the Dalmatian region. Characterised by its vibrant pale gold colour, Pošip produces wines with a distinctively aromatic and expressive profile. On the nose, it delivers ripe stone fruits such as apricot and peach, complemented by hints of citrus zest, Mediterranean herbs, and a gentle floral undertone. The palate is fresh and lively, offering a harmonious balance of natural acidity, medium body, and subtle minerality, leading to a crisp, lingering finish.

The primary wine regions for Pošip are Korčula, notably the villages of Čara and Smokvica, with increasing plantings across the Dalmatian coast and islands. Typical styles range from youthful stainless-steel matured expressions, emphasising fruit and freshness, to more complex, lightly oaked versions which introduce layers of spice and toast.

Pošip pairs exceptionally well with a variety of dishes, particularly Mediterranean seafood such as grilled white fish, shellfish, and octopus salad. Its refreshing acidity and aromatic complexity also complement poultry, light pasta dishes, and soft cheeses, making it a versatile choice for refined gastronomic experiences.
