Goruli Mtsvane is a distinguished Georgian white grape variety, most notably cultivated in Georgia’s renowned Kartli region. Esteemed for its vibrant character, this grape yields wines with a delicate pale straw hue and a charming aromatic complexity. On the nose, Goruli Mtsvane typically offers enticing notes of green apple, ripe pear, white peach and subtle hints of wild herbs and meadow flowers. The palate is marked by a lively freshness, medium body and a balanced acidity, while flavours of citrus, stone fruit and a touch of honeysuckle present a harmonious profile with a lingering mineral finish.
Winemakers employ Goruli Mtsvane both in traditional qvevri (clay vessel) fermentation, producing structured amber wines with characteristic tannins, and in classic European-style vinifications, resulting in crisp and elegant dry whites. Occasionally, the varietal is blended with others, such as Chinuri, to enhance aromatic expression and complexity.
These wines pair exceptionally well with a variety of dishes, including grilled river fish, herbed poultry, fresh salads with pomegranate, and mild soft cheeses. Goruli Mtsvane’s vibrant acidity and subtle aromatics also complement Georgian cuisine, notably dishes such as khachapuri or lobio.
