White Grapes

Picpoul is a traditional white grape variety, most notably cultivated in the Languedoc region of southern France, with the village of Pinet providing the finest examples. Renowned for its vibrant acidity and mineral-laden profile, Picpoul produces wines that are crisp, refreshing, and highly aromatic. The bouquet often exudes lively citrus notes—lemon zest and grapefruit—alongside green apple, white blossom, and subtle hints of saline and freshly cut herbs. On the palate, Picpoul is dry and zesty, with a pronounced linear structure, echoing its marine terroir through saline nuances and a lingering, mouth-watering finish.

Primarily vinified as a single varietal in the AOC Picpoul de Pinet, it yields youthful, unoaked whites designed to be enjoyed at their peak freshness. While most commonly produced in still wine styles, Picpoul can occasionally be found in sparkling versions or as a minor component in southern French blends.

Picpoul’s innate brightness and bracing acidity make it a natural partner for seafood—particularly oysters and shellfish—grilled fish, and light Mediterranean fare. It also complements fresh goat cheese and zesty salads, making it an ideal accompaniment for sun-drenched outdoor dining.
