White Grapes

Vespaiolo is a distinctive white grape variety native to the Veneto region in north-eastern Italy, particularly thriving in the Breganze hills of the province of Vicenza. Renowned for its vibrant acidity and aromatic character, Vespaiolo produces wines that exude invigorating freshness and elegance. On the nose, it reveals enticing aromas of green apple, pear, white peach, and citrus blossom, often accompanied by subtle notes of honey and almond in more mature expressions. The palate is typically crisp and lively, with flavours echoing the fruit and floral bouquet, complemented by a mineral undertone and a lingering, clean finish.

While Vespaiolo is traditionally used in the production of dry, still wines, it shines in the celebrated Torcolato style—a luscious, sweet wine made from late-harvested, partially dried grapes, offering concentrated aromas of apricot, candied citrus, and dried flowers. Dry Vespaiolo pairs exceptionally well with seafood, fresh salads, and delicate risottos, where its acidity enhances lighter cuisine. The Torcolato style complements rich desserts such as almond biscotti or blue cheese. In both forms, Vespaiolo stands as a testament to Veneto’s winemaking tradition and versatility.
