The grape variety Ribolla Gialla

Ribolla Gialla is a distinguished white grape variety native to the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of north-eastern Italy, with notable plantings also found across the border in Slovenia. Renowned for its lively acidity, Ribolla Gialla delivers an enticing aromatic profile characterised by notes of green apple, citrus zest, white peach and subtle hints of almond and wildflowers. On the palate, these wines are typically fresh, crisp and well-structured, often displaying mineral undertones and a distinct salinity that speaks to the region's unique terroir. While traditionally vinified as a dry, still white wine, Ribolla Gialla is also used in skin-contact "orange" wine styles, offering increased texture, complexity and a gently tannic finish.
