White Grapes

Glera Lunga is a white grape variety native to the Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions of northeastern Italy. While closely related to the more widely known Glera (the primary grape in Prosecco), Glera Lunga is distinguished by its elongated berries and nuanced aromatic profile. In the glass, wines made from Glera Lunga present a fresh and lively bouquet, with pronounced notes of green apple, white peach, acacia blossom, and a subtle hint of wild herbs. On the palate, these wines typically display crisp acidity, delicate fruit flavours, and a clean, mineral-driven finish, often with a light to medium body.

The primary viticultural zones for Glera Lunga are nestled in the cooler hillsides of Veneto, where the variety thrives in well-drained, marl-limestone soils. Traditionally, Glera Lunga is used in the production of still and sparkling wines, notable for their vibrancy and elegance. The sparkling expressions, in particular, are typically crafted using the Charmat method, yielding wines with a refined mousse and a persistent freshness.

Glera Lunga wines pair exceptionally well with seafood dishes such as grilled prawns, fresh oysters, or calamari, as well as light salads and soft cheeses; their lively acidity and subtle fruit make them an excellent match for spring vegetable risotto and sushi.
