Arinarnoa is a distinctive French grape variety, the result of a cross between Tannat and Cabernet Sauvignon. Exhibiting a deep, intense ruby colour, its wines are noted for their structured tannins and vibrant acidity. The aromatic profile typically reveals blackcurrant, plum and blackberry, with underlying notes of green pepper, liquorice and occasionally subtle spices. On the palate, Arinarnoa wines are full-bodied, offering a harmonious balance between firm tannic structure and a pleasing freshness, often culminating in a lingering, slightly savoury finish.
While originally developed in France, Arinarnoa is predominantly cultivated in the south of France, particularly in Languedoc and Bordeaux, as well as in select wine regions of South America, such as Uruguay and Chile. The grape thrives in warm, sunny climates, producing expressive varietal wines and lending structure to blends.
Typically, Arinarnoa is vinified into robust red wines, suitable for medium-to-long-term ageing. These wines pair exceptionally well with rich, flavourful dishes: think grilled red meats, roasted lamb, game, and mature cheeses. The structured tannins and bold character also complement hearty vegetarian dishes, such as mushroom risotto or lentil stew, making Arinarnoa a versatile choice at the dining table.
